Italian

At St Kieran students from 4 Year Old Kindy to Year 6 have the opportunity to learn Italian as a second language.
Lessons are conducted once a week and are in line with SCSA Australian Curriculum requirements.

Our students enjoy learning Italian through stories, videos, role play, modelling and the use of technology to exchange information about themselves and others.

The following themes in each year level allow for scaffolding of language learning from Kindy/Pre Primary through to Year 6.

Kindy/Pre Primary: Mi piace l’Italiano! (I like Italian!)
Students are introduced to language learning in a fun and engaging way through stories, songs and games.

Year 1: Chi sono? (Who am I?)
Students use modelled language and gestures to convey information about themselves including their name, age and simple adjectives to describe themselves.

Year 2: Tutto sui di me! (All about me!)
Students use modelled expressive language and gestures to convey information about themselves including expressing how they are feeling and celebrating their special events throughout the year.

Year 3: La mia famiglia e i miei amici (My Family and friends)
Students use modelled expressive language and gestures to create, convey and write about family members, pets and friends including adjectives and 1st and 3rd person verbs.

Year 4: Le mie routine quotidiane (My daily routines)
