  • research skills
  • self-regulation
  • problem solving skills

  • intrinsic motivation

Enrichment Selection Process

Students are identified using the following data sources:

  • PAT-R
  • PAT-M
  • AGAT
  • Teacher recommendation and judgement

All students in Years Two to Five complete the AGAT (ACER General Ability Test) in Term Four of the previous school year. Students who are new to the school complete the assessment within two weeks of starting at St Kieran. All students in Years Three to Six complete the PAT-R and PAT-M tests within the first three weeks of the school year.

For Enrichment selection purposes in Term One, PAT assessment results are compared to students’ previous year levels and given a stanine. For Enrichment selection purposes in Terms Two to Four, assessment results are compared to students’ current year levels and given a stanine. At all times, AGAT assessments are compared to students’ current year levels and given a stanine. Students scoring a stanine seven or above in any of the assessments are considered for inclusion in the Enrichment program.

Teachers complete the Enrichment checklist for their class in Term Four of the previous year. This form, along with assessment results and discussion between teachers and the Enrichment teacher form the basis for inclusion in the Enrichment program.

Enrichment groups will initially be formed at the beginning of Term One and revised at the conclusion of each term. Following Semester One report writing, classroom teachers will review the children in their class who they believe may be eligible for Enrichment. Identified students will re-sit the appropriate PAT and AGAT tests by the end of Week 3 of Term 3.

Enrichment Participation

Students selected for Enrichment will receive a letter of offer that is to be read and signed by both the student and their parent/s and returned to school. The letter gives a brief outline of the Enrichment program and the responsibilities that participating students must agree and adhere too.
