Prayer: Mercy Week
Loving God,
You chose Catherine McAuley for the service of your people who are poor, sick and uneducated.
You inspired her to found the Sisters of Mercy that these good works might endure. Give to each of
us a portion of her compassionate spirit and ardent desire to serve your suffering people.
Bless all our undertakings and grant that union and charity may always thrive among us.
Graciously hear our prayer for Catherine, and by granting the favours we ask through her intercession, hasten the day when her sanctity will be celebrated by all the church.
Amen.
Mercy Week
On Friday last week we celebrated the work of the Sisters of Mercy, by holding our annual Mercy Day Mass and Fete. It was a wonderful day, beginning with Father Grzegorz's first school Mass. The fete was a huge success raising over $3700 for Mercy Works. Thank you to our parents for their generous donations and the support you gave on the day.
NAPLAN Results Available
On Monday a hard copy of the Year 3 and 5 NAPLAN results were sent home via students in a sealed envelope. There was a NAPLAN REPORTING INFORMATION brochure that was included in the envelope to explain each child's results.
The report can also be accessed on SEQTA Engage.
Please contact your class teacher via email if you would like to discuss your child's report.
School Uniform
Next term we expect students to return in their summer uniforms. This is a shirt and shorts for boys, and light blue dress or shirt and skorts for girls. We understand it maybe difficult to purchase these items from Lowes, as we are undergoing a change of supplier. Students may return in their winter uniform if this is the case.
One thing that will not change is the expectation for wearing black school shoes with the academic uniform. Students must return to school wearing the correct black shoes. Please make sure your child has the correct shoes ready for the beginning of Term 4.
We do have a number of second hand items families are welcome to look at. The hanging rack and boxes with items, is located inside the double doors leading from the undercover area.
Staff News
It is with great sadness that we announce that Mrs Celeste Spencer will be leaving our school community at the end of the year. Celeste has been a part of the St Kieran family for 5 years and has been a valuable asset to our community. Celeste has been an integral part of the school's sustainability programs and has been the driving force behind initiatives such as Waste Free Wednesday, Green Club, the Golden Bin Award, Containers for Change and the Worm Farm. Celeste has worked with the City of Stirling on many initiatives and has helped the school gain grants towards the school's sustainability programs. Celeste will take a break from being a full time classroom teacher and focus on her work/life balance so she can spend more time with her family, but we hope to see her doing relief at some stage. We wish Celeste all the best with her future endeavours.
Staff Professional Development Day MOVED
As our staff development day on Thursday 22nd September had to be cancelled due to the Queen's Memorial Public Holiday. We will move this day to FRIDAY 4th NOVEMBER. This will become a Pupil Free Day for all St Kieran Students.
Those year 6 students attending Servite College in 2023, will still have their orientation at Servite on this day.
Kieran Connect - Dads and Kids Camping Trip
A message from David Traynor:
Thanks to those who came along to put forward ideas for our Dads and Kids Camping trip to Dwellingup (Chuditch campsite).
Only 1 hour 20 mins from Perth, with great activities, camp kitchen and toilet facilities. I’m happy to lend tents, sleeping mats, cookers etc from my school and we are planning a group bbq on the first night in the group camp kitchen.
The dates we are looking at are Friday 28th and Saturday 29th October. Arrive Friday evening and return Sunday lunchtime. Please email me - dtraynor@jsracs.wa.edu.auwith your expression of interest as soon as possible so I can send out information.
End of Term 3 - Start of Term 4
Please make a note in your diaries that we finish Term 3 for students on Wednesday 21st September and return to school to start Term 4 on Tuesday 11th October.
Annual Community Meeting
The meeting date for our Annual Community Meeting has had to be altered - this will now be held on Wednesday 23rd November at 6pm in the Upper Learning Area. This will be a combination of the School Advisory and Kieran Connect Meeting's.
The School Advisory Committee now operates under the Terms of Reference, and these are listed on our school website. As a School Advisory Council, we continue to look to support our school values and those of CEWA, this may also mean that we second members to the council to assist us throughout the year.
If you ever have any questions regarding the School Advisory Council please contact Mr Burnett.
Performing Arts
We congratulate our Year 6 Creative Dance, Year 5 Christian Dance and Isabella Lim for their outstanding achievements.
